Industrial parts and processes are undergoing major transformations due to lightweight designs to improve sustainability and carbon footprint. Boundaries of parts are pushed, to obtain lightweight, more functional integration, which makes manufacturability more challenging.
This, an early feasibility in the design phase is necessary to avoid costly reruns later-on. Altair’s Inspire is a platform for Simulation-driven-design for advanced manufacturing to drive next generation lightweight designs through selected manufacturing process. This demonstrates the workflow on simulation-driven-design and manufacturability to obtain a lightweight part in Altair Inspire. Parts can be designed based on load analysis, manufacturability checks, material response and process optimization. The platform is a powerful tool for concurrent engineering. To illustrate the process, a suspension part of a motorcycle has been redesigned for different Manufacturing processes.
